Liberté, égalité, fraternité to the MQ team, there is a Tiananmen Square, after Vienna and Teheran east.

Today at the Museums quarter in Vienna the youngsters had there say, in the "society of the spectacle" (Guy Debord). Related to "Saufen fuer die Freiheit", similar to "bing drinking for liberty", a softer version of UK bing drinking, it is the Austria way of intoxication. Different from former German ideology "Fressen, Ficken, Fernsehen" . Freihet im MQ, ----- No IQ im MQ.------ Bring your beer to the Museumsquartier, could also be a guerilla marketing event from the local social democratic beer brewer, with his so called "16er-blech", the thin from the 16th district, for the happy people embedded around sunglasses and smart phones.

Rumours says that the conservative party OEVP mixed also their young activists undercover among the mass of young Booboos, (Bourgeois Bohemians). The green party tried to capitalise on the event, distributing free politically correct fair trade drinks and printed party pro-pha-ghanda. But I hear them mourning outside, that the event inside, declines to the usual Viennese comfort zone. So what is going on?

The so called collective group feeling, exercised and preserved in religious rituals, or in public demonstrations of political oriented groups like against Bush/Iraq, fox hunt and so on. Even fans of a football teams they all have the same in common, that they feel as one, a big family. Yes this is lost, in the common public live. The consumer is segmented and sliced in marketing particles and feels lost in the global disembodied entertainment world. In the same time, the desire for the group/ family /tribe in real space gets stronger. No wonder that the face book and twitting is gaining popularity, because it is the same desire for a group which agrees to a maximum compromise.

Here in this Vienna MQ case the adventure is: buy from the industry the legal alcohol and drink it illegally in the public space. The same case like with the car industry's sustainability chain, buy the car which destroys the planet, now even cheaper then before.

What happened, the MQ management ignored the desire and ruled out limitations against free intoxication, cycling and music play. All this mediated in the usual Austrian command language. A significant potential marketing mishap, which generated instantly 19.000 face book friends, all turning there backs on the MQ, threatening there way out. So this brought hundreds of anti MQ youngsters, this Saturday back to the place, doing exactly that what good old MQ management wanted to stop. On the end all got properly twisted, so that the new imposed law and order actually was demanded by the young and the old management is now stopping this rude and suppressing attempt. Here a Viennese bureaucrat tried hard his masterpiece, the next day the printed press is in favour of the vice MQ management. What a PR success story, there are no bad news.

On the way out I met the former Minister for education and vice chancellor Erhard Busek, smiling softly towards the main exit. Why he was so happy, I forgot to ask.

What was most astonishing for me is following: some of the MQ team, the employees, have been assigned to distribute drinks without alcohol. Collecting and distributing plastic cups, so no one gets a glass cut and collecting in a big black garbage bag the empty beer tins. All dressed in black with white MQ logos in front and on the back "Gaeste Betreuer" - "guest carer". I was wondering why they have been collectively in a "bad mood with a smile". By the way this is the face expression when people put up a face while being in misery (die gute Miene zum boesen Spiel). I addressed jokingly one of them: you must be happy, you get now more overtime pay?

He explained to me with a bitter face: we get no overtime pay, we get " Zeitausgleich", which means "compensatory time off". Aha, this is the most impertinent "creative idea" of dying capitalism, the worker is forced to work longer - overtime, but he gets not more money, instead he can claim days off. So from 365 days a year he gets between 14 - 30 days off and then he can ad on his "compensatory time off". Instantly the magic is revealed, the difference between the enjoying and drinking Bo Boo's and the MQ team which sacrifices their weekend. My sympathy is on the side of the MQ team, means I say: liberté, égalité, fraternité with the MQ team and not with the MQ management. 2009 now industry standard British.airways.work.free.

It is sad that the young generation is in such a disarray, that the only resistance blossoms, when entertainment is getting limited and partying gets restricted. It is a shame for all law makers, educators to see in what state of mind the young generation is.

I am not against partying and drinking, but what I am observing since the opening of the MQ, where I have been part of the advisory committee to the MQ21 project, it is disappointing. Disappointing from the side of the management how it is handling, 1. the demand for "CITIZEN OFF TIME" , 2. the idea of MQ21, today the right side called the Electronic Avenue was deserted, the left side of MQ21 closed, the idea of MQ21 is still not properly managed. To have a subculture layer, between the cultural mainstream is an healthy idea, but it needs equal visibility and support as the main stream. There is no way out, the MQ management needs to re-negotiate with the "Bundes-denk-mal-amt" an architectonical solution for the basement. To get rid of some bricks and make the front more transparent to outside. There is no need for an indoor parking place for horses anymore, the current "Kulturmieter" (cultural initiatives) are hidden like in an dark cellar.

Disappointing from the side of the condition of mind of a generation being corrupted by shopping and entertainment. This is the second Katharina Ave Maria after the CLIMATE CHANGE a GENERATION IN COMA and plugged in into ENTERTAINMENT HYSTERIA. In contrast see what is going on the same day in Teheran, Iran Streets After Elections on Flickr, yes we can, Obama greets through the backdoor. It starts of what I predicted, the middle and far east nomenclature will start to shiver, the hungry demand for CHANGE. Yes we can drink our beer in freedom on the street's of Vienna. New's say that immediately after the clashes started mobile networks, Flicker, Twitter and Facebook have been disabled in Iran, hello China, Tiananmen Square, Platz des himmlischen Friedens, Square of Heavenly Peace. Now every voter in the World has the right to elect a smart, outspoken, young, good locking guy, like Barack Hussein and his beauty Michele. This is a fare more dangerous weapon, than the military sector ever could come up with. The rest of all the other politicians in the "society of the spectacle" World wide look and speak like left overs from a dark age. So in that sense maybe the spectacle, is a transition to a more smarter society. Yes we need smart mobs with smart phones.

Naghshe Jahan Sq / Esfehan / IRAN / unidentified crowd, which party ever, definitely a bigger country than Austria.

A smiling Erhard Busek, born 25.3.1941, as son of an engineer and builder, OEVP party member and former vice chancellor on his way out on the 13.06. 2009 of the MQ, he first named the area "Museumsquarter" and laid the foundation stone.
