Viva Italia, Berlusconi, Muammar al-Gaddafi , forza azzurri and Libya. Free pizza and paparazzi for all.

Why Italy has my sympathy, not because only for the best coffee and good food they make. No, well yes also, but because they are sometimes swimming ahead against the mainstream. Recently Italy's governemento ala Berlusconi, apologised in the name of the "Italian nation" for crimes which they made during there colonial times in Libya and agreed to pay something back to Libya / Mohammed el Ghadffi . It is said that 40.000 people died in concentration camps, and an overall estimate of 300.000 people which have been killed in this relationship. A Friendship and Co-operation agreement was signed where Italy agreed to invest in the next 20 years 5 Billions of dollars. A Autobahn will be build from Egypt up to the border of Tunisia, building of houses, the clearing of old mines the Italians left behind, and funding for Libyan students who wish to study in Italy.

We know this is for shore paired with mutual benefit, like Italian companies building this and that, getting something back in there local coffers. Also it is said that both parties agreed to install some tech for monitoring the coastal borders, who said that the EU is happy to stop the influx of illegal immigrants?

But nevertheless - Viva Italia. Sometimes ago I wrote on Mazine about "its pay back time" for all the big players of the colonial times, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, France and not to forget Belgium. Italy stepped a head more than symbolically, as Blair did, to set a signal, I know that the crimes during colonial times have been grave and bitter and they causing till today agony and helplessness.

But Europe - the European community especially needs to consider to go the same way back and reimburse for harm and misery the former monarchies caused. The blood soaked Victorian castles and as I wrote in Brussels you can still today find in chocolateries, the sweet chopped off hands inspired from african slaves misfortune. Szenario: if the slaves did not harvested enough rubber they have been punished by cutting of there hands, the district managers got more bonuses if they supplied more baskets full of chopped off hands. That's why I do not like the Belgians, they specially cant apologise enough.
