Widsdom of Willie Walsh: grateful to all customers for their continuing support.
When Eyjafjallajökull cleared the Airspace, all BA aircrafts have been down to earth. I am a frequent BA flyer and I observed the change in speech the airline industry goes through. The new announcements after each touch down are "We thank you for choosing BA , bla , bla and for your continuing support". That means we supporting the industry now? Is that a change of their mindset? Is this just a clever marketing turn? In times of bail-outing big portions of the industry with our tax money. Calling me customer, means, I buy something and I pay for, support is normally used in context of the weak and poor and in help for the almost extinguished animals. Will BA support me when I go bankrupt? Is this a precaution in case they go bankrupt and will need a bailout?
Today in my inbox a e-mail from Willi Walsh CEO of BA.
This was an exceptional event in British Airways’ history and colleagues from across the airline came together to do everything possible to assist. In response, many of our customers have taken the time to write to me or other colleagues at British Airways to express their thanks for what we were able to do. I am very grateful to all our customers for their continuing support.
