Supersonic experience

Recently I went to see the Sonic Bed. The bed is described by the artist, who created it, Kaffe Matthews as an “instrument in the collaborative research project, music for bodies”. It’s a successor to her Sonic Chair and consists of a king size bed (maybe tank is a better description), which has a number of speakers around it. These are connected to a computer program that generates sounds and vibrations. Visitors are invited to lay down and experience the various vibrations and noises that surround them.

Virtually you

That’s me in the fetching blue jacket.

Have you ever wanted to be someone else? Now you can ¬– you can have a alternative persona. What would you like to be? With Second Life secondlife.com, you can!

Second Life was launched by San Francisco-based Lindon Labs in 2000 with backing from the founders of eBay and Amazon, Second Life is taking off with nearly one and half million members. Their website describes it as ”a 3D online digital world imagined, created and owned by its residents.”

New travel search engine

One of the US’s biggest travel search engines, Kayak.com is launching in the UK next month – kayak.co.uk. Unlike online travel agents such as Expedia.com, there’s no booking fee for users, instead users after viewing listing flights and hotels, they click through to the providers site. The US version is rated in the top 20 sites in the country. I gave the beta version a test drive.
