New travel search engine
One of the US’s biggest travel search engines, Kayak.com is launching in the UK next month – kayak.co.uk. Unlike online travel agents such as Expedia.com, there’s no booking fee for users, instead users after viewing listing flights and hotels, they click through to the providers site. The US version is rated in the top 20 sites in the country. I gave the beta version a test drive.
I wanted to travel next year from London Gatwick to Verona going out 10 April and returning 14 April. Booking directly on the British Airways website came out (for two travellers) a total of £305 including taxes etc. The same travel on the Kayak website came out at £382 – so no saving there. Maybe it’s because it’s the beta version!
